Jury summons 2008

Went to the courthouse for jury summons this morning. At first they were selecting for an asbestos case (which was estimated to last two months!) - fortunately, I had a “legitimate” excuse of already-booked travel coming up. What that meant was being reassigned to the afternoon selection, which was for a motor-vehicle accident trial (estimated to last 3 days). After the lunch break I showed up, waited, and read Winkie until the judge came in. More good news - that case was settled during lunch - so me and the other 80+ people in the room were good to go. Score!
